Small step in time to the 2012 / 2013.

It hisses, sputters it, it roars and the sparks fly from ... what is it? This is a ROCKET.

...or, thanks to Master Tsiolkovski

( Konstantin Eduardovič Ciolkovskij 1857 - 1935 , Russian pioneer of rocketry).

Návrh Ciolkovkého

Since I was with my family at the turn of the year at the cottage, I filled with our son Danik waiting for the New Year a little models building. I had an eating knife, scissors, a brown classic brown tape, office paper and cardboard harder the gifts and packaging. One might say much of anything at home, but modeler's enough. Pictured above is an inspiration to us sufficient for two days with top entertainment.

I thought I had to use the "rocket engines" from the normal commercial flares, such those with the wooden stabilizer bar and make them a little something else. Before long, I cut an engines from the rockets. The engines I've certainly picked up a paper tube and cardboard insure everything nicely. Stabilizing wings I cut out of paper and double reinforced edges cardboard again. First the resulting machine we call simply ... ROCKET-1 and it was the unmanned rocket agent.

As a starter ramp I used the guide rod stabilizer bar, which I at 120 ° plunged into the snow and rocket slipped between them. Flight was more or less abnormally. Rocket after launch did several somersaults and landed in the trees. There was nothing to do, the path mapped out. Could not go back!

In the picture is the first landing zone :

The second machine had a similar technological process, with the only difference that the name of the machine has been upgraded ... ROCKET-2 .. ha, ha. But some improvements I've still done. The stabilizing wings I upgraded with three classic round skewers, I moved a little closer to the center of gravity of the engine and a little more stabilized rocket. This was demonstrated immediately after launch from the ramp and rocket soared after loose spiral on the top of its path. Since it was modeled on the Soviet manned rocketry (despite the failure of the first machine), maybe a little influenced by the success of the pilot, in the image below in the box rocket before flight, still in the hangar of factory.

At the launching pad of our improvised launcher Space Flight Centre looked monstrously rocket. The flight was also rewarded with loud applause of spectators. Rocket skewed to the right does not cost an error. It is the elimination of winds for take-off !

Since the challenge of direct flight into space we are in our design office made it, it was time to look west. Examples of us were engineers from Penemunde and created this third machine. Similarity with missiles V-1 is not accidental. The form ... Yes, but that was about it. Flight characteristics surpassed my expectations and rocket after about fifty flips thirty centimeters in diameter fell on the roof of the house. This way journey thus keenly comrades GDR obviously made a mistake somewhere. And I also ... with center of gravity :-))

So I went back to the last, the fourth machine back to a Russian school. MIG-4, so named Dan our last of a series of machines ( Mig-4 was only idea name of our six years old Danik ).

The truth is, as indeed you see yourself from the photos that I have with this machine gave a little work. The idea that our creation engine must pull and not push, was absolutely correct !

I had planted the airplane wing after completion of the whole structure, including the engine. Based on where the center of gravity I cut a hole for the wing spar. The focus was thus around 30% depth of the wing, which was ideal.

I modified the ramp, up the hill I push only two rails and was jumping platform and take-off with an angle of about 10 °. After lighting the fuse airplane made a ideal halfloop circumscribed to its top rolled to its normal position and years ended hitting the top of a mature spruce. But fell to the ground without damage, as you can see below ...

Wonder and enthusiasm was not only for me, but as you can see on our faces of Danik, we enjoyed it all.

That the performance and exhaust gas temperature even in such small motors fireworks is not negligible, it is obvious from tan fuselage behind the nozzle. Fortunately there to burn in the body department was close.

So at sight with either radio-controlled models or else with various attempts enjoying Peter and Dan ...
